Outreach

BASCC Outreach Services are available to our BASCC members and the public.  To schedule an appointment, register for a tour, or for more information about the following services, call the BASCC Outreach Department at 248-203-5270  between 9 am and 4 pm Monday through Friday.

Ask the Attorney

  • Our “Ask the Attorney” service with attorney, Chuck Lillie, offers free legal counseling.  Appointments can be made for the third Tuesday of each month, from 2:15-3:15 pm.  Fifteen-minute appointments begin at 2:15 pm with the last one at 3:00 pm.  Please sign up no later than the Friday before

Blood Pressure Clinic

  • Free blood pressure screenings are offered monthly the first Wednesday between 10-11 am.  No appointment is necessary.

Information and Referral

  • Information and referral service is provided to seniors and their families in the following areas: general geriatric counseling, housing, in-home health care options, the Meals-on-Wheels program, prescription coverage and many other options.

Medical Equipment Loans

  • Short-term loans of medical equipment such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, bath benches, assistive devices, etc. are available through BASCC.  Donations of clean, usable equipment are accepted.

Medicare/Medicaid Counceling

  • BASCC and the Area Agency on Aging 1B have partnered to offer Medicare/Medicaid and Prescription Drug Counseling the first Tuesday each month.  Forty-five minute appointments are available between 10:30 am–1:30 pm.

Senior Housing Tours

  • Monthly March through August
  • Tours are not held in the fall and winter.  Tour dates are listed in Senior News.  Click on the "Newsletter" menu to view the current issue.

Telephone Reassurance

  • If you or someone you know lives alone and would like a friendly call each weekday to check on them and brighten their day please call BASCC to enroll in this program. 

 

Low Income Assistance

Minor Home Repair & Yard Service Program

  • Utilizing the funds from the Foundation for Birmingham Senior Residents and Community Development Block Grant we are able to assist low and moderate income residents in Birmingham and the Village of Beverly Hills with minor home repair and yard services (snow removal and lawn care). 

Additonal Assistance to Low Income Seniors

  • If you are having difficulty paying for prescription co-payments, insurance premiums, eye glasses, dental care or hearing aids please call the Outreach Department to see if they can assist you.
